  • DEVELOPMENTS OF THE INSTITUTE :: Development of prognosis system of the steel surface damage by the Light Section Profiling System (LSP system) in high-speed production process


    The system of installation is intended for automatic nondestructive testing of mechanical properties of low-carbon steel by a thickness from 0.15mm up to 12 mm moving in technological line with a speed from 0.1 up to 5m/s. Testing as of continuous band of metal, and separately following one after another sheet is possible. Testing a series of medium-low-carbon cold rolled and series of hot rolled steel is possible. The advantage of this system make possible to evaluate surface damage and bulk property of steel continuously and simultaneously.

    Operation principle

    The testing is carried out by way of periodic local magnetization of moving rolled produce from both sides with a consequent measurement of gradients of normal component of residual magnetization field strength on both sides of a sheet and their average. The dependence between the installation indication and the tested properties the consumer determines as the correlation between them.


    The installation consists from two transducers, the generator and the electronic block. The opportunity of connecting the ammeter and the PC exists.


    This installation has a metrological supervision.
